Finer Things Friday- Back Yard Camping...

...with Grandpa Tom! Oh my what a special memory was made just by Grandpa Tom agreeing to sleep in a tent with Hudson. The adventure started with Hudson and Grandpa Tom pitching the tent. First they had to find the perfect spot. Grandpa Tom was more concerned with this than Hudson I am sure. Once they determined the best site the two began to assemble their shelter.
Hudson was quite the competent little helper!
Almost done!

Grandpa Tom and Hudson both in their jammies headed to bed for the night. Stories and snuggles.

Have I ever mentioned that my kids have the best grandparents?

Tent sleep overs with Grandpa is totally a FINER THING!

Finer Things Friday- Being Canadian

I really am happy to be Canadian. Around the world Canadians are known for their friendliness. We have some really beautiful places to live and love in Canada. There are so many freedoms to enjoy. Last but not least we have some pretty awesome southern neighbors.

On Wednesday we headed out to a heritage ranch about 1h and 40min from our home called the Hubble Homestead. I have been wanting to visit this place since we moved here 4 years ago. It was so delightful!

Not only could you tour the buildings and grounds, but there were tons of fun events to celebrate Canada day. We just missed out on Craig participating in the pie eating contest.
Here are some pictures of our great day:

Canadian Boy!
Walking with the real cowboy to see the real pony!

Daddy and Meadow trying out the stilts.
I love antiques, but I am so glad this is not my kitchen.
Good bye Hubble Homestead! See you another time!

Finer Things Friday- outdoor fashion

There are 2 things that make these pictures a finer thing.

The first is that it was actually warm enough for our family to go for a walk last night after supper. Our nostrils no longer freeze when we breath in and our toes aren't numb the second we step outside. Bliss.

The second finer thing about this picture is that my sweet Hudson is wearing his favorite things without a care as to the latest fashion trends. By choice he is wearing his most loved pilot hat and his Lightning McQueen jammies out in public. Oh to be free from the burden of image.

Definitely two of life's finer things. For more Finer Things Friday Head on over to Amy's Finer Things

Finer Things Friday- Sleeping in

This is Hudson on Wednesday morning. He slept until 9am. A number of things make this event so fine:
1. My daughter Meadow also slept in (because she was cozy snoozing beside me in my bed).
2. I also slept until 9am
3. I was able to get this angelic picture of my first born.
4. I am now able to share this bliss with all of you.

Finer Things Friday- Tents

We interrupt this regularly scheduled week day to bring you... Tent Time! There is nothing finer than spending the day in a tent. Our tent was made nice and comfy with an abundance of cozy blankets and squishy pillows. Each person must have their own snuggly blanket and their own soft pillow. Otherwise there is serious personal space invasion. As if being in a 3ft by 3ft space for hours on end isn't a personal space invasion, but who am I to argue with the laws of tent time?
What does one do in a tent all day you may ask? Well let me tell you. We read books, we had tickle wars, we sang songs at the top of our lungs, we played memory games and we pretended to nap. Of course it is impossible for one to really nap in a tent, for a tent is much too exciting to fall asleep in.
And this my friends is one of life's finer things.

Finer Things Friday-Spring Indoors

Winter seems to be holding on for dear life here in the North (and other places as well I am told). However I have been blessed with a little spring indoors.
My Christmas cactus has bloomed out of season into beautiful fuchsia blossoms.
I also have a brilliant blue hyacinth in my living room. The heavenly scent invades my nose whenever I enter the room. It surrounds me as I sit by the window nursing my baby or reading stories to my big boy. The colors and smells brighten my home and my mood. They remind me that I serve an almighty God who cares about the little things my heart desires. That is one of life's finer thing.
