We Are in Training!

Composing Hallelujahs
Craig, Hudson and I are in training, each for a different race .  Craig is running a half-marathon, I am running a 5k and Hudson is running a 1.6K (1 mile).
I really didn't think this had anything to do with my spiritual growth until Sunday morning at church.
Craig's running partner preached the sermon and it totally spoke to me.

Running is about discipline.  I can choose to put on my shoes and hit the pavement or I can give in to the wants of my flesh and laze about on the couch for the evening.

Running us also covered in the bible. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27
26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Know your goal.  Know your purpose. Be obedient.

Aren't these the cutest athletes you have ever seen?

I love that picture!! What a lovely and pictorial reminder of how our actions are mimicked and in the least watched by our next generation!

You are so right. I need to get off this computer and get committed to my exercising. Great picture.

I cannot rightfully call myself a runner. I used to run a couple years ago. My husband is now the runner in the house (guess I inspired him, lol). But as for me, I have a hard time getting out the door. And trying to coordinate my schedule with my husband's is hard. In addition, the preparations that go along with homeschooling suck up a lot of my time. So, yea, it's hard.

So, what I've been trying to at least do is run short distances with my kiddos during the day...just around the block. It gets them in shape and helps them enjoy running and we can do it as a family. :)

Our family has a sponsor who always pays for our races, so that is really nice, too!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
