Motivate Me Monday- Less Stuff.

Composing Hallelujahs

19Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:19-20

We are incorporating a couple of really great ideas into palace life. One of the things is No New Stuff July.
I am a self diagnosed stuff-aholic. I can not pass up free, cute, cheap, pretty, unique, hafta have it, stuff.

Here are the rules. Nothing new is coming into our home from July 1 to July 31 except:

1. Groceries (We gotta eat.)
2. Necessary Toiletries (Yes to soap if we are out. No to wonderful perfume or on sale cosmetics)
3. School Supplies
4. Library Books

We are also challenging ourselves to see how much stuff we can make leave our home. How much space and time can we redeem up by letting go of the things cluttering our home and bogging us down. How much can I improve myself as a wife and mother if I am not surrounded by this mess? How much freer will my children be to learn and play in an orderly environment instead of chaos?

I'm taking a leap!

Here
we
go!

Wow! You really are taking a leap! LOL. We just started going to garage sales again so I won't be able to take that challenge! BUT I am doing some weeding out AGAIN. I feel like I do this every other week!
Good luck my friend.

I'm with you on this. I am in the process of doing some major decluttering right now.

I'm a stuff-aholic too. A really bad stuff-aholic. I'm going to join you. I may have to close my eyes before I leap though because I am also not good at getting rid of things.

What a great challenge! Look forward to hearing all about how this changes things in and through you and your family!

A terrific challenge! I've gone a little overboard since returning from Africa in January - thrift stores have the greatest kid craft things - but we're getting swamped in kid supplies right now.
